I've been involved with the Association in one way or another since 1995. I began as a committee member for the Memory Walk and never looked back! I have participated in Walk in one way or another every year since (missing four years when I lived overseas and there was no walk.) I have walked in Florida, Virginia, Hawaii and Connecticut.
I am one of the very fortunate few who's life has not yet been touched by the loss of a loved one to this horrifying disease. My involvement started as purely professional. My degree is in Gerontology and I have a natural love for Seniors and a passion for dementia care. Once I realized the extent of the devastation this disease causes, I knew I had found a purpose. Watching the walks grow and thrive has been amazing. The amount of people the Alzheimer's Association touches via their events, advocacy and education is astounding, but we have so much farther to go! Someday I want to have to find a NEW passion because we have reached our goal of A World Without Alzheimer's!
