I was hired by Pam Atwood and worked with Alzheimer's unit at the Hebrew Home. I did extensive research to find the best ways to exercise with Alzheimer's friends. I tried many ideas, based on research and discovered every one is different and changes daily. Moving was great fun with certain music that would inspire them one day and not the next. I discovered music could bring calm to some and irritate others. The staff would pop in to hold their hands and sing and dance, they would love that. The outside was distracting, but music brought them back many times. Sundowning was OK with familiar music. Claire Norman and I continue to volunteer to sing and dance, bringing great joy to our Alzheimer's friends. We would be happy to go to other facilities to do the singing and dancing. Working with Alzheimers friends brings me great joy!
