My late grandpa, Arnold Price Sr., meant the absolute world to me! Growing up around him, listening to his stories and laughing at his funny jokes always could turn my frown upside down on any day. I remember it like it was yesterday, a bright sunny day in Lake Charles, LA...we were sitting on the porch ad received the phone call from the doctor telling us he suffered yet another stroke, and by the looks of his records he was was being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My heart sunk to the floor. I knew there was no cure, but I looked on the bright side and I always kept him uplifted. In 2011 his health began to decline tremendously, he was no longer speaking and could not remember much anymore. However, I visited him for what I didn't know would be my last time seeing him alive. I sat on his bed, held his hand and I said " Pa, do you know who I am?" He gave a very blank stare for about 2-3 mins as he reached out to grab my hand, opened his mouth and uttered the words " You're Pee Wee" Immediately I burst into tears, hugged, kissed him on the cheek and told him that I loved him very much. Pee wee is a nickname I was given by my grandfather when I was a little girl, so him remembering that was a huge milestone for me. I made a promise to him September 6, 2011, that I would NEVER give up, I would work my hardest and fight to help find a cure to END ALZ. This is for you my dear grandpa!
