I have worked in the healthcare field for over 34 years working with individuals with Alzheimer's Disease . For the past 23 years I have worked at Hebrew Healthcare Senior Day Center as the Recreational Therapist, and for the past three years as the director of the program. I am a Certified Dementia Practitioner as well as a Reiki Master/ Teacher. These extra credentials have allowed me to incorporate a holistic approach to calming the busy mind and decrease agitation and anxiety in individuals that have a cognitive disease . Each day I have the privilege and honor to work with individuals that have this disease. I am able to get into their "world" and help them be successful in their daily programs as well as give them back a meaningful role and purpose. I have been a caregiver for family members who did not survive the battle of Alzheimer's Disease. This experience allows me to assist family members who are struggling with a new diagnoses of a loved one. I can share personal experiences and relate to them as a caregiver ,a professional and a loved one. I view each of participants not as a client but as a loved one. I firmly believe that this is my special calling and I love what I do.
