My husband retired at age 62 from a very difficult job and commute to New York City. Soon after I realized he could not retain answers to questions he asked over and over again.
Finally, he suggested we try to find help. We went to Yale Hospital Adler Clinic. Testing showed the possibility of Alzheimer’s/dementia. We continued to go to Yale and Bob took part in several studies testing medications for dementia.
Being a full time caregiver sent me to look for help. I couldn’t find a support group that met at a time that I could attend. So my minister suggested that I start my own group. I took the training the Alzheimer’s Association offered and we have met weekly since 1996.
It has been an amazing journey and I have learned a lot along the way.
