I had no previous experience with Alzheimer's disease before the start of my internship for college at the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter in the Norwalk Office. I am working with the early stage group, Giving Alzheimer's a Purpose Group (GAP).
I met with two amazing Alzheimer's Association employees and they assured me I should not worry about it. I will be learning it in the right way with the GAP members. I felt in love with our GAP members at the first meeting I was part of. I cannot describe how they change me as a human being, and my views of life.
I finished my internship, but I am not going anywhere! I will stay as a volunteer for year to come. My Alzheimer's Mantra is: Learning-Supporting-Adapting. My goals are: to teach school children what Alzheimer's disease is, and what it is not, and to bring to the Latin population of Connecticut Spanish educational workshops, and support groups! I am fully passionate about my GAP group and our walking team. Go GAP-Closers!
